Further Projects

In 2006 Wolfgang Schulz and Franz Bartolomey, solo cellist in the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, will both be celebrating their 60th birthdays. In honour of this double occasion the two artists are giving a concert series which runs over the whole year. It consists of six interesting programmes featuring various musicians connected with Schulz and Bartolomey. These include colleagues such as Claudio Brizzi - claviorgano, Helmut Deutsch - piano, Thomas Hampson - baritone, Xavier de Maistre - harp, and Stefan Vladar - piano, amongst others. The 19th November 2006 concert in the Konzerthaus Mozart Hall features not only Thomas Hampson but also a very prominent surprise guest!
Schulz and Bartolomey began their celebratory year and concert series on the 25th October 2005 with a "Concert of Generations". Each appeared with his respective son, Matthias Schulz and Matthias Bartolomey, in the Gläsernen Hall of the Musikverein.

In 1995 Wolfgang Schulz appeared for the first time together with Naoko Yoshino for concert tour engagements in Japan. The two artists made an immediate decision to perform together often in future chamber music recitals.
The long-standing musical partnership with Naoko Yoshino and the compilation and rehearsal of repertoire for this have created a wide variety of concerts programmes.
The two artists have played together not only as a duo but also with, for example, violist Veronika Hagen (Hagen Quartet), or the Gaede-Trio. A repertoire of works has been built up which transverses many epochs of music and includes a wide variety of ensemble groupings. Some examples are:

Flute/Harp Duos
  • Works by Bach, Bozza, Debussy, Donizetti, Faure, Francaix, Ibert, Jolivet, Spohr, Telemann and others

Trios for Flute, Harp and Viola
  • Works by Debussy, Takemitsu, Gubaiduline and others
